Well, I sure think we’ve seen enough lions roar this winter. Let’s hope the lamb is close by. What I do know is that the Vernal Equinox is March 20th, 2026.
(FYI: The March Equinox or Northward Equinox is the Equinox on the Earth when the subsolar point appears to leave the Southern Hemisphere and cross the celestial equator, heading northward as seen from Earth.)
I am always in awe and wonder of each season – a time and a reason that gives us the sparks, energy, and just maybe, spring is the “what I need to do in this NOW season.” Spring highlights these thoughts – the energy that inspires us to begin, finish, or follow our dreams. This is always even more on our minds when the winters are “tough” as they were this year.
Now, in life, we know that it isn’t always that easy to follow our hearts. Yes, follow our hearts, and revisit those dreams we’ve always wanted to follow. The next step brings up the how, why, and what we can do to make it happen. I may also add, we just finished the month of the heart, and now we have the opportunity of spring to follow up and put our energy into that dream.
I was just in Southern California, mostly in the desert. I have some close friends in the medical field, doctors, nurses, and many other practitioners. We were all sitting around talking, and with me, well, death and crossing over, of course comes into the conversation. Many of those who work in hospice shared what loved ones who were about to pass/cross over shared. The nurse asked them what was their number one regret: I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have not honoured even half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. It is very important to try to honor at least some of your dreams along the way. Unfortunately, when you begin to lose your health, it is often too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.
Thus, following the month of the heart (February) into the Spring beginnings (March), you can really feel how life comes alive from winter into spring. There is not a person alive who doesn’t feel it, who wants to play hooky, and quite literally “smell” the flowers. Don’t wait until you’re at your “death-bed” to smell the flowers, follow a dream, or at least attempt to try.
We should not forget one of the “most” fun March festivities is good ole St. Patty’s Day! One can listen to Celtic music, attend an Irish gig, have a beer, and wear green. Truly a fun holiday and very much celebrated, certainly in NY and Boston, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a must-do! In NY there are anywhere from 100 to 200 thousand folks marching with 2 million spectators! You can be sure that every pub is filled to the brim with people laughing and having fun, while listening to bagpipes and the crowd singing, Oh Danny Boy!
I know someone whose husband went way beyond celebrating this holiday with a closet filled with his favorite choice of kilts! Nothing like guys showing off their bare legs. And bagpipes! FYI these are not easy to play, they require great lungs!
I’m giving my personal toast to all of you to celebrate the beginning of spring. Get ready to smell the flowers!
Love,
Suzane
