It’s time to Deck the Halls after a warm and loving Happy Thanksgiving where we are so aware of the precious moments of “Giving Thanks.”
December is also how we can share with friends, old and new, from all corners of our lives. Mostly, we can join in with the little and big kids who are special in our lives – letting that energy spill into our own lives of feeling like kids again.
I have heard from so many folks that the things they wanted to do last year, they are now doing it this year. Traveling, visiting friends and loved ones, opening our hearts and doors to those who so much need it now, especially those who won’t have a loved one at the table.
If it’s a child that’s not at the table this December Holiday of Christmas or Hanukkah, the loss will be one of the deepest grieving. A silence in the house. My deepest thoughts of love go out to you.
My dear friend Sandy Goodman is one of those amazing people who lost two sons, and I ask her how she celebrates the holiday. I’ve shared her list before but it’s one that can be shared once again during this December holiday.
Sandy Goodman author of the book, Love Never Dies: A Mother’s Journey from Loss to Love has given me her yearly list of to-do’s:
1) Hug those you love and those who need love. Thank them for being in your life.
2) Make a list of who to shop for or those you want to touch during this season of love.
3) Send out cards, with candle lighting announcements.
4) Purchase candles to burn throughout the month to remind those that love is immortal, and that you want to celebrate the lives of those we know even if we can’t see them.
5) Prepare and mail out cards to those who grieve and those who love them.
6) Decorate those who loved, and loved doing it.
7) Plan and carry out huge random acts of kindness, one your loved ones would have loved you doing.
8) Decorate things that make people smile and make your home smell of nature.
9) Call, or visit those that you feel a connection to.
10) Always know in your heart your loved ones hear you and laugh with you in joy as you think of them during the holiday season.
I know the holidays can be difficult for many so I hope those little warm words of Sandy’s who has been there help in some way. I’ve often been told in my sessions from children in spirit, they still want the family to celebrate the holidays especially if they have siblings. It’s something I too often think about since the death of my nephew.
As always, I hope the Holidays, whatever you believe to be true for you, are filled with love with continued memories.
True to my December connecting with loved ones I’ll be doing my yearly event with Thomas John on December 9, in Sturbridge, Mass. For those who aren’t in the northeast, I’ll be doing a Zoom event with Cheryl Murphy on December 16th.
Of course, check out my calendar for more upcoming events. I’ll be returning to Florida for in-person events in February and California in March.
The other news is that blog talk radio is ending after many years of shows in 2025. I’ve been with them for 15 years. I will be continuing with Streamyard, and all of the info on upcoming shows will be on my site soon.
I’m sending love to everyone during the holidays as we welcome 2025.
Warmly with love,
Suzane
