June: The Season of Summer Solstice Is Here

June: The Season of Summer Solstice Is Here

June, the month of “so much happening”

Happy June where flowers are already blooming, people are getting married, teenagers are going to proms, graduating high school, college students taking a breather maybe, and last and very importantly, Father’s Day!

The summer solstice is June 20th, and the official first day of summer is almost here!

I would be remiss if I didn’t share a few of my thoughts for June. No matter who we are, your age, or what’s going on in life, no one is exempt from, well, life. Moments that can offer incredible joy, high-points in our lives, or there may be a missing piece, or a person that hangs over us no matter what, in our hearts, with happiness. Meaning that with all that goes on in June, we experience missing that person who is not at the graduation, getting married when a dad or mom is not at a wedding, or even often when the first baby is born, wanting so much for your parents to be there. A little secret, your parents were there when that baby was born!

What I can say and will continue to say is that memories are yours and no one can take them from you. Of course, that means all kinds of memories. It can also bring up the “I wish I would have, or could haves.”  I meet so many folks who did so much for their loved ones, but still feel it wasn’t enough. I’m here to say, it was more than enough, and your DP’s want you to know it.

None of this is easy, grief is an ongoing never never-ending inner emotional challenge that gets awakened at any time, or moment, thus the busy month of June for many. Everyone has some of the above June emotions: marriage, Father’s Day, graduation, if you’ve lost a child, and maybe nostalgia for the beginning of summer. June was my mother’s birthday and my dad’s death. For me, they are more of a reminder; the death and birthday of my nephew affects me differently and still does.

So kids, it’s time to put on the flip-flops and jump in the pool, wade in the ocean, take a hike, or just breathe in all the beautiful flowers. There are so many wonderful botanical gardens everywhere, and a summer breeze to enjoy. And if you know me, I’ll be in my garden!

Of course, we still need to connect with those DPs during the summer months, so this is what I’ve got cooking:

Warmly with love,
